Schedule II & Stimulant Workflow (If Not Signing Encounter)

Schedule II & Stimulant Workflow (If Not Signing Encounter)

When a prescribing provider needs to order a Schedule II drug and or stimulant, you’ll create the order in the encounter or in an order group and change the prescriber to the order Supervising provider. This will allow the orders to either be signed by the supervisor (along with your patient note) OR separately through the clinical inbox of the supervising provider.

Prescribing a scheduled drug from the Exam (Patient Encounter)

1.    In the A&P section of an existing patient encounter click the (+) to first add prescription orders that you can approve.

2. Click the sign orders button to send non-schedule II prescriptions.

            3.  Repeat step 1 and add scheduled medications. DO NOT sign orders.

            4. Navigate to Sign-off section of the encounter.

            5. Click drop down arrow and send encounter for review to Supervising Provider.

Note: The script will signed when the Supervising provider signs off on the patient encounter.

Prescribing a scheduled drug from an Order Group

Access the patient’s chart and click on the patient action bar (hamburger menu on the top right) to select ‘Create Order Group’. A new Order Group will populate (Be sure to select the Supervising provider as the ordering prescriber).

Add the diagnosis and order as usual.

No further action is needed. The supervising provider will see the order in their Clinical Inbox to Approve and Save. The order will then go to the pharmacy electronically.
