Forwarding Your Encounter for Signature
In the event that you need the supervising physician’s signature on the encounter, you can select the dropdown next to the “Close” tab under encounter Sign-Off. You must complete this step instead of closing the encounter. Once the down arrow is selected, you will see an option for “Send for Review”.
After selecting “Send for Review”, you will then type the supervising provider’s name in the dropdown.
The “Send for Review” button will appear green. Select to send for signature.
Documentation
The following text macros are available to select from for incident-to:
On the top section of the billing tab, select the appropriate supervising provider that should appear on the claim.
Rendering Provider: This is the provider who renders the services to the patient. This field is typically used for internal tracking and reporting purposes. The individual selected in this field generally will not appear on the claim. This should remain as the rendering provider.
Supervising Provider: This is the provider you intend to submit on the claim. In many cases, this may be the individual who supervised the services. But even if the provider you intend to submit was supervised by someone else, you should include the provider you intend to submit to in this field, as this selection typically populates as the rendering provider on the claim form.
