We
understand that the order codes field in Athena has caused some confusion when
placing lab orders to Labcorp or Quest. Below are few tips to streamline the process on
successfully submitting electronic lab orders in athena in an
encounter or an order group:
To
send labs electronically to Labcorp or Quest, you will need to select lab orders that
are listed on their lab compendium. The
easiest way to accomplish this is to:
1. List
the preferred Labcorp or Quest location. If it was not entered during check-in, select
the preferred lab from the preferences dropdown on the top left of the screen
in the patient’s chart:
2. When
selecting orders, select Show search results from > Selected Facility.
3. The
orders will then automatically only include LabCorp or Quest- specific test codes.
Note: For Labcorp, do not
select any code with the ending -U as these labs are unpublished and no longer
available in the Labcorp system. Either select the lab with no code at the end
or select the order with -P (published) at the end. When selecting a code from
this list, you will not be required to enter an order code.
