How to order GeneSight in Athena

(Outside of an Encounter)

          1.)  Search for a patient, then access their chart.


2.)     Create an order group for the patient, then, if necessary, select the ordering provider

3.) Select “Diagnoses & Orders” then search for Genesight

Once the Order Set has been added you may deselect the test panel that is not needed. Add Diagnoses to attach to the test by click (+) Diagnoses that is in red.

4.)Select the GeneSight test name to show the medical necessity question.

5.)   Indicate if you want to ship a kit to the patient for sample collection at home. 


6.)  List one or more psychiatric medications that have failed or are currently failing to work for this patient. If non type “None”
7.) Indicate if you are considering medication augmentation or new treatment for the patient.
8.)  Indicate if you are considering a dosage change to a current medication for the patient.
9.)  Indicate that you have or have not considered non-gentic factors. To review the non-genetic factors, visit https://genesight.com/ngf/
10.)  Indicate if the patient has opted in to receive automated text messages regarding their order. These messages are order status updates only, not marketing outreach.
11.) Specimen and billing type do not need to be answered.
12.) Indicate that you attest to the provider attestation. (To review the provider attestation, visit https://genesight.com/ngf/

13.) When all required sections have been completed, provider can sign orders.
      
14.) If the patient sample was collected in the office, use one of the methods below to schedule FedEx pickup.
