Appointment Ticklers/RTO
This Tip sheet is a quick reference regarding creating a Return to Office (RTO) appointment tickler in the Assessment & Plan section of the exam. An appointment tickler is an appointment reminder to schedule your client. Please only use Return to Office (RTO) when you have not schedule the patient after your note.
1.) In the Exam stage of the patent encounter, scroll down to the Assessment & Plan section in athena. In the "Add Section" field on the right please select "(+) Follow Up" to add Follow Up (RTO) section in the Exam.
2.) Follow Up (RTO) will now be in the Exam under Assessment & Plan. Click on the (+) to input potential timeframe you want the patient to be schedule for their Follow Up.
3.) Please Fill out accordingly
A.) When - Select a time for the follow-up appointment, or accept the default value, Today/ASAP.
B.) Provider - Select the desired provider for the follow- up appointment.
C.) Appointment - Select the type of follow-up appointment
D.) Department - Select the department for the follow - up appointment
E.) Alarm - If you want to set a reminder alarm for scheduling the follow - up appointment, select a time frame for scheduling the appointment. If an alarm is set, a Return to Office document (RTO document) is created along with the appointment tickler.
Note: RTO documents are created in a SUBMITTED status and assigned to no one. If the number of alarm days elapses, RTO documents are moved to FOLLOW Up status and assigned to a provider.
F.) Note - Add a scheduling note about the Follow - up appointment. Ex. (Please schedule at 10am, morning appointments only)
